GARNIER BB Cream review

Photobucket

I was kindly sent by Garnier* their new BB cream which came out in Greece a couple of weeks ago and will only be available through December in Hondos Center.
I have to say I've been hearing a lot about BB creams in the beauty community, but unfortunately, no company had released BB creams in Greece up untill now so I was more than happy to try Garnier's newest product!

A BB cream which stands for Blemish Balm cream, is said to be a 5-in-1 product that:
1. evens skintone and boosts glow
2. blurs imperfections
3. smoothes fine lines
4. offers 24h hydration
5. has an SPF UV of 15

Now, I've been using this for pretty much two weeks and I believe I can share my opinion with you on it.
It comes in two shades, light and medium. Personally, light is the perfect match to my skintone, as medium is far too dark and I reckon would be perfect for summer.

First of all, it is much thicker than a tinted moisturiser, offers more coverage and leaves an amazing healthy glow. It blends out quite effortless. I love using it during the day as it's a light coverage product which is what I seek most days.

Photobucket

It claims to cover blemishes, I can see that it evens out my skintone perfectly but in the blemish department, all I know is that I had to cover up the odd huge spot with some concealer after.

The thing that surprised me the most was that after I had taken it off in the evening, my skin felt extremely moisturised and smooth. So it does offer some good hydration there, cause bare in mind that I have very dry skin during winter. I wouldn't really say it's ideal for people with oily skin 'cause it could look greasy on them after a few hours, but I suppose they can use powder to set it.

As for smoothing fine lines, to be honest I can't really say anything about it as I have none.

All in all, having Vitamin C and mineral pigments, being light coverage but still evening out my skintone and giving an amazing glow, this is a pretty good product to have, which falls in, between a light coverage foundation and a tinted moisturiser category, if you're in a hurry and can't be bothered to do your make up base for more than 3 minutes. BB creams are the new trend which came from Asia and now has taken all over Europe and I'm looking forward for more brands to be releasing them in the future.

Pros:
offers hydration
evens out skintone
healthy looking glow
spf 15
smells lovely (fruity scent)

Cons:
Doesn't entirely cover up blemishes
could potentially look greasy on oily skins, if not set with powder

RATING:
A

Garnier's BB cream is now exclusively available for a limited time, in all Hondos Center shops in Greece until the end of December and retails at 9.90 Euros.

november favourites '11

Photobucket

Hello everyone!

So this is what I've been using the most for the month of November. Make-up wise, It wasn't that interesting as I kept it really simple for Uni etc. Quite basic, every day make up.

1. L'Oreal Elnett Satin Hairspray.
Nothing more to say. Does the job perfectly and smells amazing.

2.Oriflame Essentials Revitalising face cream for normal skin.
I was not as impressed with the one for oily skin which I got in the summer but this one seems better and moisturises my skin quite well. I am willing to buy the one aimed at dry skin to try it out as my skin gets drier during winter.

3.Garnier Intensive 7 Days Repairing Lotion with Shea Butter for Extra-Dry Skin.
Wow, that's a mouthful. Well, I've been loving my BS body butters but this little baby has been helping me moisturise my skin every night, after I get out of the shower. It does the job perfectly and leaves my extremely dry skin moisturised and baby smooth. Plus, the scent is AMAZING!

4.White Musk Eau de Parfum.
I remember sniffing this when I was 13 and immediately falling in love with it. Now, six years later it still remains as one of the most beautiful scents that I ever smelt, and I always make sure that I have one bottle of this on my drawer.

Top notes: velvety musk, floral lily and sensual ylang ylang with hints of fresh galbanum and basil.
Middle notes: velvety musk, oriental jasmine, floral lily and rose.
Base notes: velvety musk, oriental jasmine, floral lily and iris, rose, sweet vanilla, fresh amber, patchouli, oakmoss and vetiver with hints of fruity peach.

5.MAC Strobe Cream.
It has been a favourite for quite some time now. I absolutely LOVE this. I recommend everyone to go and buy it. It's got the perfect sheen. I sometimes use it as a highlighter but most of the time I like using it with my foundation, especially with the one mentioned below.

6.Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation.
I love that it's full coverage, yet does not look cakey at all. It's not matte and it gives a lovely glow to my face, when i first got it I thought it was like a porcelain doll's skin. And I also love the shade (52) It suits my skintone exactly.

7.MAC cream blush in Posey.
In the close up it looks lighter and slightly more peachier.(no idea why)
It's a lovely rosey peach that looks awesome if you fancy some pop of colour to your cheeks. And not to forget, because it's a cream product, it leaves a lovely sheen on the cheeks.

8.Nail Varnishes.
Essie in Trombone: a true blue toned red
Essie in Berry Hard: a true burgundy/burdeaux
Erre Due last minute in 31: a lovely yellow toned/tomato-ey red

On another note, I've been thinking of doing a FOTD post for quite some time now, but sad me I wake up very early in the morning and my 6am face is not exactly FOTD material. Nevertheless I will try and put it up this week.

I hope you girls are having a wonderful week :)

ZARA Evening Collection F/W 2011 Lookbook

Hey everyone!
First of all, it's the 1st of December! I can finally embrace all of the Christmas spirit and start getting 'extremely' excited about Christmas!!!
So, as per usual, I received a newsletter from Zara about their newest collection, the Evening collection, and may I say, I am OBSESSED! They look is quite androgynous, with sharp cuts and it's quite symmetrical this year. Femininity is not absent though.

Marie Claire & GLAMOUR freebies

Hello, my beauties,
hope you're having a wonderful start of the week :)

So me and my sister were strolling around town today and I always had in mind to get the December Marie Claire and GLAMOUR issues as they had lovely freebies! And look what I got :

Photobucket

Photobucket

I was overwhelmed with the freebies I got off Marie Claire! Apart from the gorgeous blue-toned red nail polish in Trombone they gave away a handful of other samples such as the new Korres cream against wrinkles, Vichy's new liftactiv serum 10, Palmolive's shower milk with Black Orchid & moisturising milk, Nestle's Le Chocolat cocoa powder and TWO samples of L'Oreal's Revitalift total repair moisturising cream! Bargain at only 5,90E.

Photobucket

GLAMOUR had a full sized Rainbow Priorities Blush which to be honest, I'm not really keen on as it's too dark and browny for me, but I'll give it a try! Anyway, this is not the reason I got GLAMOUR magazine, it's because every December issue has a GLAMOUR discount card, which has lovely discounts in some of my favourite stores :)

My early Christmas Wishlist

Hello beautiful girlies!

Today I am doing a post showing you all my Christmas wishlist! I know it's a bit early, but on the other hand, it's never too early for the Christmas cheer, is it?
The shops are slowly starting to wear their Christmas attire and it's so beautiful walking down the streets along with twinkling lights and beautiful Christmassy decorations! I always get very cheery(and may I add, silly) at Christmas!
This blogpost was inspired by the ever-so-lovely Evi from CBSG5861.

1.MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation

Photobucket

I've been laying my eyes on this foundation for quite a few months and it's definitely something that I really, like desperately(how sad), need for Christmas. It's medium to full coverage and it is said to leave a dewy finish on the skin.

2.Dior Amber Diamond Highlighter
Photobucket

I can't stress how much I want to try this product, everywhere I read reviews with positive feedback. The price puts me off, but I guess it's worth it and will last me quite some time!

3.Soleil Tan de Chanel
Photobucket

I don't do bronzer during winter, even though I like using bronzes and golds on my eyes and stuff, but I usually get quite pale, which I like and am trying to embrace. Nevertheless, I think I'm making an exception this winter ;)

4.MAC blush in Margin
Photobucket

There is no logical reason why I haven't got this yet. It's a neutral, pinky peach shimmering blush, great for everyday use. I guess I always thought to 'buy this later' as I have far too many everyday blushes and looked for more vibrant colours, but this, I'm definitely getting this winter!

5.Lancome Hypnose Doll Eyes Mascara
Photobucket

Lancome do the best High End mascaras in my opinion. They really do. They don't come cheap, retailing at 30E but when I got my first Lancome Hypnose mascara when I was 16, I was astonished with the results! I need a new High End mascara at the moment and what's a better option than the one that took all the hype by beauty editors this winter?

6.MAC lipstick in Shygirl
Photobucket

I went to get this one a year ago but it was out of stock so the make up lady recommended Ravishing as a closer match so I got that. I, frankly, forgot about it but Viviana from Vivianadoesmakeup raves about it all the time, so I'm looking forward to adding this in my make up collection :)

7.Estee Lauder Daywear moisturiser
Photobucket

I've had this before, It's one of my favourite moisturisers. A bit expensive but does the job brilliantly.

8.Essie Winter 2011 collection
Photobucket

I'm really liking the colour palette of this collection, Cocktail Bling, School of Hard Rocks and Size Matters are my favourite colours!

9.Alien by Thierry Muggler perfume

Photobucket

My favourite ever perfume, haven't smelled anything more addicting than that. I've ran out of this a few months ago and haven't repurchased ever since 'cause the Thierry Muggler perfumes are quite expensive. Wishing someone is 'amazing' enough to get this for me at Christmas!

10.Eternity by Calvin Klein
Photobucket

My mom used to wear this all the time when I was little, now she switched perfumes but I'm always euphoric when I detect someone wearing this perfume. The perfect floral scent. It's quite affordable, for its size, 50E for a 100ml bottle. So Christmas perfume: check!

11.Jeffrey Cambell Lita Shoes
Photobucket

These will always be on my wishlist, they are pricey at about 300-something E and are always out of stock on the website!

12.Zara bags: The Plaited Shopper bag in Brown and the Large Shopper in Black

Photobucket

I'm doing my research on getting a really good handbag this winter. Zara do some really good quality bags and I've had my eyes on these for quite some time. I'm definitely getting ONE of them this winter.

13.Yankee Candles (Christnas Eve)
Photobucket

I get crazy over scented candles. I really do! Yankee candles are by far my favourites and I always take a sniff of them when I'm at Public. I am going as far as purchasing a large jar this December in Christmas Eve. Don't like the price (about 20E or something), but they last quite a long time.

***pictures are not my own, they were taken from Google Images

So this was my 'long' wishlist for this Christmas. Go and check out Evi's wishlist as well, it's lovely!

What about your Christmas wishlist? Do you have any products that are listed in my wishlist too? Let me know girls!!!

the body shop body butters - a review

Hello gorgeous people!
I hope everyone's having a wonderful week. Uni, friends and life in general, have kept me away for a few days!

Photobucket

Today I'm doing a review on The Body Shop body butters, as I've been meaning to do it for a couple of months, but always hold off thinking that I should finish them up.

So, at the moment, I only have three body butters with me, the Rasberry one (which is all used up), the Coconut one with shimmer and the Moringa one(which I recently hit bottom to).

After a good 4 years of using TBS body butters, I've come to the conclusion that they are a worthy investment, as their hefty price at 15E always puts me off and are amazing moisturisers that would suit anyone, for they have different textures that suit different skin types. For example the body butters aimed at normal skin seem to have a more watery, light texture that is absorbed by the skin more quickly than the body butters aimed at dry skin, which are a little bit more thick, greasy and take longer to absorb.

As far as their scent goes, I'm a little bit picky when it comes to scents. To be honest, some of the cream products in the Body Shop smell a bit different than they actually do in real life, in a bad way, like they've expired (maybe that's just me and my local TBS shop). I usually find myself sniffing all of them, thinking how strong they smell, probably being overwhelmed by their scents all together. For example, when I took a sniff of the Coconut and Almond body butter I was put off by the scent, but having purchased both of them, I can tell you that they both smell lovely in real life.

Most of the time, I use the ones aimed at normal skin during the summer, for when my skin needs some more hydration, and the ones aimed at dry skin, I mostly use during winter, when my skin is super dry and in immediate need of moisture.
I usually put them before I go to bed to wake up with lovely, baby soft skin, or after the shower and wait for them to soak in for a bit.

All in all, I would highly recommend you to go and check them out, there's definitely one that suits your taste in scents or skin type.

Pros:
Wide variety of scents to choose from.
Good value for money. (200ml each)
Products aimed at specific skin problems.(normal, dry skin)
Extremely moisturising!

Cons:
Price. (15E each)
Some are a bit greasy. (the ones aimed at dry skin)
Takes some time to absorb.

Rating :
A

What do you think of TBS body butters? Do you like them? Which ones do you have?

favourite mac lipsticks

Hello my gorgeous readers! I hope you're all doing alright!

Photobucket

Blush may be my all time favourite make up item, but lipstick is something that I invest in as well. From the palest hues to the most vibrant ones lipstick can change one's look in a split of a second. So, here is a list of my favourite MAC lipsticks!

Freckletone: Frecktone is described as a neutral peach and that's exactly what it is! For everyday use, I tend to choose warmer lipstick tones such as peaches or peachy pinks. I never was the type for pale nudes so Freckletone is my kind of nude. It has a lustre finish and pretty much goes with anything. *ahem it's neutral* I reckon it would suit most skintones and it can be worn during the day and during the night too. I think Frecktone is something that every lady, who loves lipsticks, out there should go and check out. (*sign* you NEED this in you lives!)

Snob: Snob was one of my first MAC lipsticks, and this is my second tube of it. I remember getting it because of all the hype around it. It's a ,satin finish, pale pink with lilac undertones in it and would probably suit cooler skintones. I don't mind wearing this in the summer when my skin's a little bit more tanned, but it's also a real treat during winter, because it easily makes, such a ladylike look. I have this weird thought that Snob suits blondes better, don't know why, but I'm more keen on seeing this on golden-haired ladies.

Pink Nouveau: I purchased Pink Nouveau about a year ago, when Lady Gaga came out with her Viva Glam lipstick and whilst she did interviews she said that Pink Nouveau was the lipstick of her choice. So you understand that there was quite a big fuss about this lipstick. Nevermind the fame, Pink Nouveau is a unique and beautiful lipstick colour on its own. It's a bright pink with a satin finish that can spice up any look that you're wearing. It is said that it suits brunettes better than blondes, I, being a blonde, insist that it looks JUST as gorgeous on blondes as it does on brunettes. Be careful though, as it can sometimes look very Barbie-like.

Impassioned: Impassioned is a lipstick that I can't quite describe. On the MAC website it's described as an amped-up fuschia. I say it's a very hot pink, with warmer orangey undertones. I have no idea why, as it always stood out to me on the MAC counter but I only got this on my 19th birthday last year and I instantly fell in love with it! It's such a fun colour to have around, it's not quite fuschia, not quite red. It's in between. I would probably like this one everyone, blondes, brunettes and even redheads, used lightly or full on. I usually like this kind of colour more in the summer but I don't mind using this during winter as well! Difenitely go and check this out!

Lady Danger: Lady Danger is my favourite kind of red! I love reds and I think that they look quite glamorous, so over the years I've acculumated quite a collection of blue-toned and yellow-toned lipsticks. This one falls in the latter. It's a bright orangey red, with a matte finish, that would probably suit any paler skintones even if they're warm or cool. It makes such a glamorous look, because in my opinion, matte lipsticks are way more classier than creamier ones, so matte red lipsticks are the epitome of class. What I love the most about this lipstick is that you can play with it and intensify the tones you'd like, yourself! Wear it with a warm blush and it instantly makes the orangey tones stand out, or wear it with a cool toned blush and the red-ey tones stand out. I'm not sure if I'd recommend this to everyone, I've come to realise that it suits different skintones with different faces and such, so it'd be nice if you went to a MAC counter and tried it out by yourself.

Media(LE): Media is a limited edition lipstick that came out with a collection that I can't remember the name of, last winter. It's a burgundy colour, more of a deep red wine. It's supposingly a satin finish but I find it to be more creamier than any other satin lipsticks I've got. To be honest it's the darkest lipstick that I own, and one that I rarely use. I tend to use it during the winter months. What I love about this lipstick is that you can use it full on, and make a statement or you could use it lightly as a stain or even as a blush.
